Import Listings from CSV or Excel

Supported spreadsheet fields, required listing data, and how automatic column mapping works.

Updated 16 July 2026

Overview

You can add multiple batteries to the listing workspace from a CSV or Excel file. Your column names do not need to match ReBattery's field names: the importer examines the headers and a small sample of rows, maps the columns automatically, and creates one editable listing for each data row.

Nothing is published immediately. Review every generated listing, complete any missing data, add the shared collection and packaging details on the next page, and choose resale or recycling before publishing.

Uploading a Spreadsheet

  1. Open Listings → New listing.
  2. Select the CSV tab.
  3. Upload a .csv, .xlsx, or .xls file.
  4. Wait while the columns are mapped.
  5. Review the generated listings in the workspace.

Files can contain up to 500 data rows and must be no larger than 10MB. The first worksheet is used for Excel files.

The importer must be able to identify at least one battery model or product name, manufacturer, OEM part number, VIN, or internal stock reference. Files that do not appear to contain battery inventory are rejected with an explanation.

Required and Important Data

Missing fields do not prevent a meaningful spreadsheet from entering the workspace. They are shown as missing data and must be completed before publication where required.

Required to Publish

  • Manufacturer
  • Model or product name
  • Chemistry
  • Format: Pack, Module, or Cell
  • Quantity
  • Energy per unit in kWh
  • Listing channel, chosen as resale or recycling during review
  • Collection address, added on the collection and handling page

Important but Not Required

  • Condition
  • Weight per unit
  • Previous application
  • Manufacture year
  • Primary image

Conditional Fields

  • Condition declaration is required when the battery is not new surplus.
  • Damage details are required for degraded or damaged batteries.
  • Recycling packaging details are required for recycling listings and are added on the collection and handling page.
  • Buy Now price and currency are only needed when Buy Now is enabled for a resale listing.

Supported Fields

The downloadable sample uses the canonical column names below, but descriptive alternatives such as Battery maker, Product, Stock qty, Capacity, MPN, or Photo can be mapped automatically.

How Automatic Mapping Works

The mapping agent receives the spreadsheet headers and up to five short sample rows. It can only return links between source columns and supported ReBattery fields. It does not rewrite cell values, invent specifications, or create data that is not present in the file.

After mapping, ReBattery applies the mapping to every row using deterministic validation. Unsupported columns are ignored. Supplied values remain visible in the listing workspace so you can confirm and edit them before publication.

Troubleshooting

If the file cannot be imported:

  • Check that the first data table has named, unique columns.
  • Remove blank or duplicated header names.
  • Make sure at least one identity column contains a model, manufacturer, product name, part number, or stock reference.
  • Confirm that the file contains battery inventory rather than contacts, invoices, or unrelated records.
  • Use the sample CSV if you want guaranteed column names and value examples.
