Clearing excess battery inventory?
Manufacturers, integrators, distributors and OEMs sell surplus cells and modules through ReBattery, usually for one of these reasons.
Project cancelled
Cells or modules bought for a project that was cut or downsized.
Over-purchased
Minimum order quantities or forecasts that ran ahead of demand.
Production fallout
B-grade, off-spec or out-of-window cells from manufacturing.
Warranty returns
Returned or service-replaced modules, often with high state of health.
End of line
Stock for a product that's discontinued or moved to a new cell.
Insolvency or restructuring
Battery inventory that administrators or lenders need to realise.
What's in your warehouse?

Prismatic cells
What buyers want to know
- Manufacturer, model and capacity (Ah)
- Date code and quantity
- Storage voltage, or a sample test
Who buys it
Storage integrators and pack builders. New LFP from known cell makers sells fastest.

Mixed stock is split, so new cells aren't sold at scrap value and failed cells don't hold up the sale.
Your lot
Mixed surplus inventory
- Boxed cells
- Returned modules
- B-grade and untested stock
Resale
New, boxed and A-grade stock to pack makers, integrators and traders.
Reuse
Returns and service stock, refurbished for their original application.
Repurposing
Tested cells and modules rebuilt into storage and e-mobility packs.
Recycling
Anything that fails testing, to licensed recyclers, on record.

How a surplus battery sale works
Rather than accept a liquidator's trade price, you sell at market price. We run the sale; stock stays with you until it's paid for.
- Step 01
Inventory details
Model, chemistry, quantity, date code and any test data.
- Step 02
Best route per lot
We match each lot to resale, reuse, repurposing or recycling.
- Step 03
Price and terms agreed
Buyers offer. You approve the buyer, price and contract.
- Step 04
Paid, then collected
The buyer pays first. We arrange collection with a licensed carrier.
- Step 05
You're paid
Payment released once delivery is confirmed.
Supply agreements, confidentiality and shipping, handled
The reasons surplus stock sits in a warehouse are rarely the batteries. These are.
Supply agreement restrictions
Tell us the resale, export or branding terms. We only approach buyers that fit them.
Confidentiality
Unbranded, anonymous listings and NDAs on request. Your name is shared only with the buyer you approve.
Matched lots
Lots are kept by model and date code, so dissimilar cells never end up in the same pack.
Dangerous goods transport
Lithium cells ship as UN3480 under ADR. We arrange collection with carriers licensed for it.
Recycling on record
Stock that fails testing or must not be resold goes to licensed recyclers, with a certificate.
Selling surplus cells and modules: common questions
Last updated
Who buys surplus lithium-ion cells and modules?
- Pack assemblers and integrators building energy storage, e-mobility and industrial packs, refurbishers who need replacement modules, traders supplying those markets, and licensed recyclers for anything that cannot be reused. We match each lot to the buyers asking for that format and chemistry now.
How do I sell excess battery inventory?
- Send us the cell or module model, chemistry, quantity, date code and where it is. A datasheet and any test data help. We set a market price from current demand, take the lot to buyers and manage the sale. Stock stays in your warehouse until a buyer has paid.
Are you a battery cell broker or reseller?
- We're a managed broker. We don't take your cells into stock to resell them: we market your inventory to vetted buyers, you approve the buyer and price, and we manage the sale through to payment and collection.
Is ReBattery a battery liquidator?
- We do the job of one without buying your stock at a discount first. ReBattery is a managed marketplace and broker: buyers compete for your inventory, you agree the price, and we take a commission only when the sale completes.
Do you buy the batteries yourselves?
- No. You keep ownership until a buyer pays. That means you sell at market price rather than a trade price set by someone who has to resell it.
What kinds of cells and modules can I sell?
- Prismatic, cylindrical (18650, 21700, 4680) and pouch cells, and modules from EV, storage and industrial packs. LFP, NMC, NCA and LTO. New, boxed, B-grade, off-spec, warranty returns and used stock with test data.
Can I sell B-grade, off-spec or production fallout cells?
- Yes. Cells that miss an OEM's capacity or internal-resistance window are often fine for storage and lower-power packs. Buyers need the grading criteria and test results so they know exactly what they are getting.
Can I sell warranty returns or service-replacement modules?
- Yes. Returns often have a high state of health. They can be refurbished for their original application, repurposed into new packs or, if they fail testing, sent for recycling. Dissimilar cells or modules should never be mixed in the same pack, so buyers will ask for matched lots.
Our project was cancelled. Can we sell the batteries we ordered?
- Yes. New, unused stock from cancelled or downsized projects is what buyers want most. Check your supply agreement for resale restrictions first and tell us what they are.
Our supply agreement restricts resale. Can you still help?
- Often, yes. Common restrictions cover resale markets, export, branding or minimum prices. Tell us the terms and we only approach buyers that fit them. If stock must not be resold at all, we can arrange recycling with a certificate of destruction.
How do you protect our product and supplier information?
- Listings can be unbranded and anonymous, with no part numbers or your company name shown until you approve a buyer. We can work under your NDA. Stock that carries proprietary designs can go to recycling with a certificate of destruction instead of resale.
What information do buyers need?
- Cell or module model and manufacturer, chemistry, nominal capacity and voltage, quantity, date code, storage conditions and state of charge. Test results such as capacity, internal resistance and open-circuit voltage raise the price.
Do the cells need testing before sale?
- Not to start. New, boxed stock with a datasheet can be offered as it is. For used, B-grade or returned stock, a sample capacity and internal-resistance test usually raises the price. If testing would pay for itself, we'll tell you.
How much is surplus battery stock worth?
- It depends on chemistry, format, age, test data, quantity and whether the stock is new. Prices move with the cell market, so we price each lot from current buyer demand and recent sales rather than a list.
Can you sell part of a lot and recycle the rest?
- Yes. Mixed inventory is usually split: new and matched stock to resale, tested stock to reuse or repurposing, and anything that fails to licensed recyclers. You get one sale record for the whole lot.
How are lithium cells and modules shipped?
- Lithium-ion batteries move as dangerous goods, usually UN3480, under ADR by road and IATA rules by air. They must be packed to the right standard and at a safe state of charge. Damaged or defective batteries have stricter packaging rules. We arrange collection with a carrier licensed for it, or the buyer can use their own.
What should I send to get offers?
- The cell or module model and manufacturer, chemistry, quantity, date code, location and a datasheet. Test results help but aren't required to start.
What happens after I send the details?
- We check the lot against current buyer demand, then come back within one working day by email, WhatsApp or a call if you prefer, under NDA if you need one.
How and when do I get paid?
- The buyer pays ReBattery before anything ships. We release your payment once delivery is confirmed.
What volumes do you handle?
- From a single pallet to a full warehouse clearance. Larger, matched lots attract more buyers and better prices, but smaller lots still sell.
Which countries do you cover?
- The UK, Europe and the US. We work with sellers and buyers in all three.
