How a sale works

Rather than accept a trade price, store equipment indefinitely or recycle reusable batteries, we run the sale on your behalf.

  1. Step 01

    Assessment

We review the specification, condition and data you hold.

  2. Step 02

    Pricing

A market price set from current buyer demand and recent sales.

  3. Step 03

    Marketing

Presented to vetted buyers, as a whole system or by component.

  4. Step 04

    Completion

The buyer pays first. We arrange collection. You're paid on delivery.

Questions

Selling battery storage: common questions

Last updated

Can I sell surplus or unused battery storage?

Yes. New and boxed units sell fastest, especially LFP from known cell makers. Tell us the model and quantity and we'll come back with offers.

Do I sell the batteries to ReBattery?

No. You keep ownership until a buyer pays. We find the buyer, manage the sale and earn a commission only when it completes.

Is there a market for used battery storage?

Yes, and it's growing. Second-life storage builders, off-grid and export projects, repairers and specialist BESS buyers all buy used and surplus systems, racks and modules. LFP storage from known cell makers sells fastest.

Who buys used battery storage?

Installers and integrators building second-life systems, repairers who need discontinued models, off-grid and export projects, and specialist BESS buyers. We match your equipment to the ones looking for it now.

Can I sell a used home battery like a Powerwall or GivEnergy?

Yes, single units and batches. Buyers will want the model, age and, if possible, the state of health from the app or installer portal.

Can I sell a used or decommissioned BESS?

Yes. Buyers look for complete BYD, CATL and Sungrow containers. Some want the whole system; others want racks or modules. We'll show you both options.

Can I sell modules replaced during BESS augmentation?

Yes. Modules and racks removed during augmentation or repowering often have plenty of life left. Buyers want matched batches with BMS data.

What is BESS decommissioning?

BESS decommissioning is taking a battery energy storage system out of service and removing it from site. Many decommissioned systems still have years of usable capacity, so the batteries, racks or modules can be resold for second-life use instead of recycled.

We're decommissioning a BESS. When should we talk to you?

As early as possible. Buyers can make offers before the system comes out, so the sale and removal can be planned together.

Do I need a state of health test?

Not to start. Many buyers will make an offer from BMS data or a recent capacity test. If a test would change the price, we'll tell you.

Do you sell inverters and other equipment too?

Yes, when they come with the storage system. Inverters and PCS, BMS, racking, enclosures and HVAC can be sold with the batteries or separately, whichever pays more.

Can the batteries stay on my site until they sell?

Yes. Stock stays with you until a buyer has paid and collection is booked.

Can you arrange transport?

Yes. On managed sales we arrange collection with carriers licensed for lithium batteries, planned around your site access or decommissioning programme. Buyers can also use their own carrier.

What should I send to get offers?

The make, model and capacity, the quantity, age or commissioning date, the location, and any BMS export or state of health. For a site being decommissioned, add the removal date. That is enough for buyers to start bidding.

What happens after I send the details?

We check the equipment against current buyer demand, then come back within one working day by email, WhatsApp or a call if you prefer. For larger systems we agree the sale and removal plan together.

Can decommissioned storage be sold as a product rather than waste?

Yes, when a buyer will reuse the system, racks or modules. Equipment its holder discards is waste and must go to a permitted facility with a registered carrier. Decide the route before decommissioning.

Is there a market for older storage systems?

Sometimes. Older systems with a working BMS can still sell whole or as modules and parts; others are only worth recycling. Send the model and age and we'll tell you which.

How and when do I get paid?

The buyer pays ReBattery before anything ships. We release your payment once delivery is confirmed.

What happens if nobody wants it?

We compare quotes from licensed battery recyclers so it's handled properly and on record.

Which countries do you cover?

The UK, Europe and the US. We work with sellers and buyers in all three.

Surplus storage? It may already have a buyer.

Send the model and quantity. We'll come back with offers.

Prefer email? hello@rebattery.io. We reply within one working day.
