Reference
The Renault Zoe 41 kWh battery, badged Z.E. 40, has 192 LG Chem lithium-ion cells in 12 modules in the same space as the 22 kWh pack, 41 kWh usable, air-cooled and weighing 305 kg.
Note: This is the Z.E. 40 pack from Zoes built before the 2019 New ZOE. For a 41 kWh pack from a later car, check the label.
Each fact is confirmed by two independent sources: Renault press kits, releases and its First Responder's Guide (one source), plus InsideEVs, electrive, L'argus, Automobile Propre, Auto Express, Electrek, electrifying.com, BusinessKorea, PushEVs and a DTU study. Facts we could not confirm twice are left out. Checked . Sources
Questions
Still unsure which pack is right? A specialist can check fitment with you.
Talk to a specialistCheck the badge, the motor code and the year. Q210 and R240 cars have the 22 kWh pack. Cars badged Z.E. 40 with the R90, Q90 or R110 motor have the 41 kWh pack. The New ZOE from 2019, badged Z.E. 50 with the R110 or R135 motor, has the 52 kWh pack. The R110 came with both the 41 and the 52 kWh pack, so check the badge or the label on the pack. Send us a photo of the label and we will check.
Renault Zoe 41 kWh packs with a fixed price on ReBattery are listed from £625 to £663 right now. The price depends on condition and measured health, and some sellers take offers instead. Fitting by an EV garage costs extra.
From spring 2017, Renault itself offered owners of 22 kWh Zoes on a battery lease an upgrade to the 41 kWh Z.E. 40 battery. Fitting a used 41 kWh pack outside that offer is not confirmed. Check with an EV specialist before you buy.
Only if the battery was bought. Many Zoes were sold with the battery leased through Renault's finance company, RCI, and a leased battery belongs to the lessor, not the car owner. Since 2018 Renault has let owners buy the battery out, which makes it theirs. Ask the seller for proof that the battery was bought with the car or bought out. In the UK, an "i" in the version name, such as ZOE i, means the battery was bought with the car.
You have 7–14 business days to inspect it. Raise it with evidence and the seller is not paid until it is resolved.
