Ford's 1.0 EcoBoost mild hybrid in the Puma, Fiesta and Focus uses an air-cooled 48 V lithium-ion battery. Ford gives no kWh figure, and no two sources confirm the three cars use the same part, so check the label.
1.0 EcoBoost mild hybrid
The Ford EcoBoost Hybrid 48 V battery is the air-cooled lithium-ion battery Ford built into the 1.0 EcoBoost mild-hybrid Puma, Fiesta and Focus. A belt-driven starter/generator charges it from braking and coasting and uses it to assist the engine.

Each fact is confirmed by two independent sources: Ford spec sheets, press releases and owner manuals (one source), plus Green Car Congress, Autocar, autoevolution, Car Division, carsales, Motoring Research, Auto Express, RAC and the US Department of Energy. Facts we could not confirm twice are left out. Checked .Part numbers and sources are on each size's page.
Questions
Still unsure which pack is right? A specialist can check fitment with you.
Talk to a specialistA belt-driven integrated starter/generator takes the place of the alternator. It recovers energy when the car brakes or coasts, stores it in the 48 V battery, then works as a motor to assist the engine when accelerating. The car cannot drive on the battery alone.
No. A mild hybrid cannot drive on electricity alone. Its 48 V battery stores energy recovered under braking and helps the engine. A full hybrid has a larger battery and motor that can move the car by itself for short distances at low speed.
Not confirmed. Ford built a 48 V air-cooled lithium-ion battery into all three, but no two sources confirm it is the same part. Check the label and part number against your car.
Ford Puma EcoBoost Hybrid packs with a fixed price on ReBattery are listed from £42 (48 V) to £168 (48 V) right now. The price depends on condition and measured health, and some sellers take offers instead. Fitting by an EV garage costs extra.
