Reference
The 77 kWh MEB battery is the long-housing pack: 77 kWh usable and 82 kWh gross, 288 NMC pouch cells in 12 modules, about 490 to 500 kg. VW, Skoda, Audi and Cupra built it into the ID.3, ID.4, ID.5, Enyaq, Q4 e-tron and Born.
Note: A 2026-on ID.4 or ID.5 GTX listed at 77 kWh may not have this pack. Check the label.
Each fact is confirmed by two independent sources: VW Group press material (VW, Skoda, Audi and Cupra count as one source), plus electrive, InsideEVs, CleanTechnica, Green Car Reports, Autocar and other motoring press. Facts we could not confirm twice are left out. Checked . Sources
Questions
Still unsure which pack is right? A specialist can check fitment with you.
Talk to a specialistYes. 82 kWh is the total (gross) capacity and 77 kWh the usable capacity of the same pack. The same goes for 48 and 45, 55 and 52, 62 and 58, 63 and 59, and 84 and 79 kWh.
MEB 77 kWh packs with a fixed price on ReBattery are listed from £1,908 to £3,292 right now. The price depends on condition and measured health, and some sellers take offers instead. Fitting by an EV garage costs extra.
It is not a like-for-like swap. The 45, 52 and 58 kWh packs sit in a housing with ten compartments; the 77 kWh pack fills a longer housing with twelve. We found no source that confirms a conversion.
In ADAC's 160,000 km endurance test, one ID.3 Pro S with the 77 kWh pack still had about 91% of its usable capacity. That is one test car, often fast-charged, not an average.
Check the badge and trim on the car's documents, then the label on the pack. Send us a photo of the label and we will check.
You have 7–14 business days to inspect it. Raise it with evidence and the seller is not paid until it is resolved.
