It depends on the engine, the body, the year and the market. UK and EU Corollas from 2019 to 2022: the 1.8 hatchback and Touring Sports have a lithium-ion battery, and the 2.0 has a nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) battery. The facelifted Corolla from 2023 has a new, lighter lithium-ion battery; for the 2.0 from 2023, sources disagree. The first US Corolla Hybrid (2020) used NiMH. Check the label on the battery.
