Kyburz Switzerland AG operates an on-site direct recycling facility at Freienstein, opened September 2020. Proprietary cold mechanical process: batteries are discharged, disassembled, and active cathode/anode materials separated without chemical leaching or smelting. Electrolyte recovered by distillation; cathode active material retains crystal structure for reuse. Capacity ~200 t/yr.
